This Groundbreaking AI-Powered Platform Will Change How You Discover the Internet’s Hidden Gems Forever

Smashing, a new web curation platform from Goodreads co-founder Otis Chandler, launched today with the goal of surfacing the best content on the internet using a combination of AI and human recommendations. The site aims to help users discover high-quality articles, videos, and other media tailored to their interests.

Chandler, who previously founded the popular book recommendation site Goodreads, said he was inspired to create Smashing after becoming frustrated with the deluge of low-quality clickbait and misinformation online. There’s so much great content out there, but it’s become harder than ever to find it amidst all the noise,” he explained. “We wanted to build a platform that would make it easy for people to discover the best stuff, whether it’s a brilliant long-form article, a fascinating documentary, or an insightful Twitter thread.”

At the core of Smashing is a sophisticated AI system that crawls the web and analyzes millions of pages to identify the most engaging, informative, and trustworthy content. This is then curated by a team of human editors who add context and ensure accuracy. Users can follow topics and creators they’re interested in, and the platform’s algorithms will surface personalized recommendations in their feed.

One of the key features of Smashing is its focus on surfacing diverse perspectives and lesser-known voices. “We didn’t want to just highlight the same viral content everyone is already talking about,” said Chandler. “Our goal is to help users discover hidden gems and expose them to ideas they might not encounter otherwise.”

The platform also includes social features, allowing users to save and share their favorite content, as well as discuss it with other users in dedicated comment sections. Smashing has already partnered with a number of high-profile creators and publications to feature their content at launch, and plans to expand its roster in the coming months.

Chandler said he believes Smashing has the potential to change the way people consume information online. “In an era of information overload, curation is more important than ever,” he said. “By combining the power of AI with human expertise, we can help cut through the clutter and surface the content that really matters.”

Smashing is available starting today via the web and mobile apps for iOS and Android. The basic service is free, with premium features available for a monthly subscription fee.
